The Motorola Photon 4G is Sprint’s latest specimen; it’s a right super phone with a dual-core processor, large qHD display, and WiMAX with a gimmicky 3D camera. Motorola further flavored things up with a dash of WebTop functionality.
Display and Hardware:
- 158g (5.57oz) and 12.2mm (0.48 inches)
- Cut-off corners, subtly curved top and bottom edges.
- Sheet of Gorilla glass that protects the 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen
- It’s reddish black over the display and blueish grey around it
- Sensors, earpiece, front-facing camera and notification light above the screen, plus the space housing the primary microphone and four capacitive buttons (menu, home, back, search) below the display. Hard plastic coated in a glossy gunmetal-colored lacquer that wraps around the left and right sides.

With tablets getting more and more popular, netbooks are beginning to feel the jitters. There are studies that tablets are beginning to eat into the market share of netbooks.
But as a person who just recently bought a netbook, I think netbooks don’t have anything to worry about. There are still a number of things that tablets don’t do as well as netbooks and it may take a number of iterations before tablets develop the necessary technologies or fe
atures that will be enough to replace netbooks. Just ask any writer who writes tons of articles. A netbook’s keyboard is still a huge benefit to them compared to the virtual keyboards of tablets.

Segate External drives have become more of a necessity for people wanting data backup and transfer on-the-go. Also, with the competitive prices at which most manufacturers offer these, consumers are spoilt for choice. Seagate have recently launched their new FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3TB external drive.
The FreeAgent GoFlex Desk has a sleek looking, black exterior and is shaped like a rectangular case. The body is glossy and may attract a lot of fingerprints, but it does look stylish. The drive is made for external desktop use, but you can carry it every now and then if you need to. The GoFlex Desk external drive has a usable space of 2.72TB and runs at a speed of 7200 rpm. The front of the drive consists of status LEDs and the back consists of the power supply slot and the microUSB connectivity slot. As mentioned above, this drive requires an external power supply. The external drive also comes in-built with security and backup software that has become a standard with most hard drives.
We put the Seagate through a few synthetic and real world tests. In SiSoft Sandra the drive got a drive index of 33.11 MB/s and a random access time of 17ms. HDTach showed a CPU utilization of one percent and an average read speed of 33 MB/s with a burst speed of 34.3 MB/s. CrystalDiskMark scores gave a random 4K read speed of 0.573 MB/s, and a write speed of 1.443 MB/s. The random 4K QD32 read speed was 0.664 MB/s, while the write speed was 1.518 MB/s
The smaller part is what houses the adapter cable, controller chip for a given interface, external power port (for the external power “brick) and a typical SATA data and power port. When the need arises, you simply purchase one of the aftermarket “upgrade kit” GoFlex Desk cables and transform it into a new external drive by simply swapping out the existing adapter cable and plugging in the new one in. Simple, easy and just as user friendly as it is on the Portable version.
This SATA data and power port is what attached to the exposed SATA ports on the end of the hard drive portion, and allows you to easily swap out one interface standard for another. Interestingly enough, and unlike the GoFlex Portable, there is no eSATA adapter available at the time of this review. There is also no USB 2.0 only adapter nor is the Firewire adapter only a Firewire adapter. Instead of two separate adapter cables Seagate has opted to make one GoFlex adapter cable which is dual USB 2.0 and FireWire 800 capable. The reason is that the FreeAgent GoFlex Desk cables are much larger than their portable counterparts. I do not understand the lack of eSATA, but USB 3.0 does cover off the “high performance” end of the spectrum quiet nicely
